What is an old mine cut diamond?
Similar in shape to modern cushion cut diamonds, old mine cuts were hand cut and polished in the 18th or 19th century. They have 58 larger facets, which were specifically cut to sparkle in candlelight. Because it is their history that defines old miners (as they’re also referred to) they are more rare and unique than modern cuts.
